1stdibs has just added a new country to their extensive line of dealers, Switzerland. I thought it would be fun to get our “Swiss On” and design a living room in a Swiss chalet using some of 1stdibs new Swiss vendor products. So, maybe we don’t have a few million lying around to buy our very own chalet. But, we could snag some of these lovelys from one of 1stdibs new Swiss dealers.

Switzerland is known for quality products, beautiful countrysides, banks and of course chocolate. But their great European location offers a wide variety of influences to the Swiss design aesthetic, French, Italian, and Scandinavian.
I was thinking the Chalet would have some mid-century ‘modness’ to it so I have picked out some items that I think would look smashing.
These arm chairs in lemon with black stained wood by Joseph André Motte, circa 1950, offered by Galerie Patrick Gutknecht would look great in our mountain view living room.

This rare metal hanging lamp by Anton Fog Holm, circa 1968, offered by Les Illumines Design would add a little “star light”. I love looking at the stars. I really want this!

I have to admit, I really like the mix of brass and birch on this organic shaped coffee table designed by T. H Robsjohn- Gibbings, circa 1950, offered by Angela Weber Moebel.

A nice accent piece would be this rare Wireframe T1 Plus stool with Suede and Leather by Verner Panton, circa 1961, offered by okay art. With extra seating, a place to put your feet up, and cool looks, this hip stool scores on three accounts.

A stylish place for all your favorite design magazines would be this pair of magazine holders by Mathieu Matégot, in black painted brass,, circa 1954 offered by demos mobilia.

Now for a little art. I chose this abstract piece, Terrasse Ensoleillee, by Maria Helena Viera de Silva, circa 1952, offered by Art XXI. It reminds me of flying over the city at night with the city lights shinning and making a pixilated landscape, Ahh, I wax poetic.

Now for some Swiss music to listen to while I dream of Switzerland. The band the Young Gods were cited as influences to U2 and David Bowie.
The Young Gods playing Our House/ How appropriate!
Gotta love Switzerland! Hope you find some goodies for your diggs.
Check out 1stdibs!
